Gorham Sterling Silver & Mouth Blown Glass Bowl

A glowing, delicate beauty of a bowl. Luminous lavender glass, the color changing subtly as it thins toward the top lip, supported by a classic sterling silver base; nothing could be lovelier than the simple elegance of this auspicious pairing. The exquisite mouth blown glass is particularly thin and elegant... difficult to capture in a photograph.

The two parts separate; the glass top has a silver plated, threaded knob that fits into a similarly threaded opening in the sterling base.

Condition is great. The glass has no chips, cracks, or roughness that I can feel on it's graceful curved edge, and the sterling base is in fine condition with no dings or dents. Marked on the bottom of the base with the right facing lion, anchor, and "G", also marked "Gorham Sterling", and "638" which is likely a style number. This stunning piece stands 6 5/8" tall, with a top diameter of 6 1/4", and a base diameter of 4 3/8"... but really, it gives the impression of being larger.

Imagine this wonderful bowl filled to overflowing with fragrant green plums, or with a few floating orchids. Sublime.
