Early 19th C Child's Portrait - Oil on Canvas - Naive - Primitive

The sweetest of portraits, this young man peers out at us across the years with deep brown eyes that seem curious and maybe just a bit mischievous for his angelic setting.

Condition is very good for the early to mid 19th C date of this painting, with one tiny flake of paint missing (see second to last photo). It is unsigned, and on it's original oval stretchers, which measure 20" x 24". Overall the piece measures 25" x 29", with an oval sight size of 18 3/8' x 22 3/8". The frame is new. I personally prefer the simpler and somewhat more austere presentation of this painting simply on it's antique stretcher, but I offer it as found and leave the decision of presentation to you.

A delightful and engaging image. You will be captivated... drawn to this long ago boy's gaze, and enchanted by his heavenly presence.
