Oil on Canvas - Landscape - Signed James Heron

The vista is wide, encompassing mountains and valley, while the more immediate subject is a rustic Scottish farm... a bucolic setting. There are farm houses, cows near a stream, and another cow with a farm woman near a thatched cottage. Your eye is led into the composition by a road, which crosses a bridge that leads to this idyllic farm scene. Beyond are mountains that recede into the distance and become increasingly enrobed in a hazy fog.

This painting has been professionally cleaned, relined, and restored. It was put back on it's original stretchers with new corner wedges. A piece of modern stabilizing material was attached to the stretchers to add strength and support. One of the stretchers bears a note, now protected with a clear material; the stabilizing material covers this note. I have removed it for photography, to show you both the note and the back of the painting. As well as I can determine, the note says:

The signature is on the lower left corner.

The frame is new, and the painting is secured in it with easily removable clips. Without the frame the painting measures 24¼" x 16", the overall measurement of the piece with the frame is 29½" x 21½".

This is a beautiful scene that draws one in for a closer look. It evokes a simpler time and encourages quiet contemplation.
