Chinese Baby or Child's 'Pig' Shoes - Children's - Doll's
In China, boys shoes were often modeled as animals, while floral themes were used for girls slippers.
The black silk body is embroidered and cotton lined, with decoratively embroidered cotton soles. The ears are applied and backed with a stiff red material, and the nose is red silk with applied bead nostrils. The embroidery is silk, cotton, and some kind of metallic thread.
Condition is great. These little shoes look like they were never worn. c. early 20th C.
These babies are incredibly cute, with eyes peeking out from behind the applied ears. They are an appropriate size for a large doll or small child, or would be a fantastic addition to a collection of children's furnishings.
