This beautiful Vernis Martin Brise fan is framed in a lovely frame that fits and suits it perfectly. The scene on the front of this fan is reminiscent of Watteau whose scenic paintings became popular with the Rococo Revival in the 19th C., and the lower portion of the sticks and the guards are painted with painstakingly tiny and elaborate Chinoiserie.
CONDITION is as you see it, the pictures give a fair representation of all aspects of the piece, and I am available to answer any additional questions you may have. I have not had this piece out of the frame and so cannot speak to the back decoration. There was once a plaque on the back of the frame which has been lost. The frame measures 17 1/2" east-to-west, 10 3/4" tall not including the hanging loop, and the sticks are approximately 8 3/8" long.
A well composed, fine example, this is a beautiful piece and ready to hang. Enjoy!
