A small, inviting mid 20th C painting of what looks to be an intimate conversation. The loose and confident brushstrokes suggest more than they reveal... three figures, a bottle of wine, and a window are all shown, but the scene is warm and inviting, the bonds of friendship and good company are apparent, and your eye is definitely drawn through this small narrative piece, invited to fill in the details.
CONDITION is grand. This painting is nicely framed in a typically mid 20th C wooden molding with a linen mat and inner gold filet. There is normal, expected wear to the frame. Signed illegibly at the upper right. Oil or acrylic on board. Measures 15 3/8" x 13" overall, with a sight size of 6 1/2" x 4 1/4".
This would be a sweet piece to hang in a library or sitting room, or if you're like me and empty wall space is at a premium, this small painting is the ideal size to lean on a shelf or mantle. Display it where you have a moment to muse. Enjoy!
