This lovely Royal Copenhagen jug or pitcher is a fine expression of old craftsmanship meeting the modern world. Founded in 1775, Royal Copenhagen still produces their pieces using only time honored techniques, crafted and painted entirely by hand. And they are known for producing some of the most desirable patterns in the world, particularly their blue and white beauties.
The beautiful hand painting is enhanced by the delicately modeled porcelain which displays a subtle woven texture around the mouth of this pitcher, with the lines sweeping down and fanning out over the body. A most attractive piece.
CONDITION is grand with no problems whatsoever. It came from an estate, and was received as a wedding gift in 1992, so it's not an old piece... but as I said, Royal Copenhagen is still making their porcelain the very same way they have for nearly 250 years. This is the pattern Blue Flower, but this particular size jug is not in their current line. Measures 7 5/8" tall to the top of the handle and 7 1/2" to the top of the lip.
I can imagine this beautiful piece holding heavy cream to pour over a mountain of glistening berries... or if you're trying to cut back on heavy cream (and who isn't these days), a bug bunch of yellow tulips would show it off to perfection. Enjoy!
