French Art Nouveau Gilded Bronze Vase by Leon Kann - Siot Foundry

A marvelous period Art Nouveau bronze vase designed by the French artist Leon Kann who was active from 1896-1908, and cast at the world renowned Siot-Decauville Foundry which was founded in 1860 and flourished throughout the Art Nouveau period on into the first few decades of the 20th C.

This beautiful vase is cast in the form of an opening lily bud, the petals creating the walls of the vase with the stamens spilling out between them. Both the subject and its sinuous lines are typical of the Art Nouveau design. The artists signature and the foundry mark can be found on the scalloped base of the vase, and the mark "T235" on the bottom.

CONDITION is original with most of the gilding is in fine condition. The round lip is very slightly out-of-round in one spot, and there are some marks on the bottom of one 'scallop' with nothing corresponding on the top of the base. Measures 4 7/8" tall and 2 3/4" across the mouth.

This is a lovely, period Art Nouveau bronze, perfect for a collector. It would look beautiful in a Victorian setting and equally fabulous in an Arts & Crafts decor. It's a stunner. Enjoy!
