This antique Russian Icon depicts the last meal of Christ with his disciples before His arrest. Christ is the central figure at the table, the chalice containing the Precious Blood of Christ is on the table. The Last Super Icon is over the door of the Iconostasis in most Orthodox churches. This is a very colourful and detailed crafted Icon. The disciples wear yellow, red and green garments which are adorned with gold leaf.They create a beautiful contrast to the light green background and the brown of the table. The Icon is painted tempera on wood with drying oil and gold leaf. The Icon is in perfect condition and dated at the end of the 19th century. Length : 11.8"( 300mm) Width: 9.8"(250mm)
