Antique Russian Icon depicting the birth of Saint Nicholas
Antique Russian Icon with silver oklad depicting the birth of Saint Nicholas. The Icon is painted tempera on wood. The silver oklad is detailed and fine crafted and has partly a mate finished and partly it is polished which renders a beautiful contrast. The oklad is hallmarked at the bottom with the Russian silver hallmark 84 zolotnik (875 silver) and the makers mark A.C.. The Icon is in perfect condition and dated at the turn of the 19th century.
