Antique Russian Icon of the Holy Virgin

This is a colourful and artistically very expressive Icon. The Holy Virgin and the Christ child have a masterly facial painting in warm colours with a very careful work.The border of the garment of the Mother of God is finely highlighted with gold leaf . The dark blue garment of the Holy Mother creates a beautiful contrast to the red one of the Christ Child. On top of the Icon represents the baptism of Jesus Christ.The paleography at the bottom is made very carefully. The Icon is in perfect condition and dated at the 19th century. Its origin is Russia. Length: 12.2"( 31cm) Width: 10.2"(26cm)
