Antique Russian Icon depicting the Mother of God holding the little Jesus
This very rare antique Russian Icon depicts the Holy Mother of God with the little Christ child. The Icon is crafted in a soft manner of painting in warm brown, red and green tones with rich gold leaf decoration. The facial painting of the Holy Virgin and the little Jesus is masterly crafted. The border of the garment is highlighted with gold leaf as well as the halo. The material of the Icon are wood, tempera, gesso and gold leaf. The Icon shows the Mother of God in a tender moment clasping Her child to her breast with both hands.
The Icon is in perfect condition and date at the 19th century.
