A fabulous 1872 printing of a 17th Century engraving by Jean Lepaultre or Le Paultre, (1618-1682) a listed engraver in major Museums.
The piece seems to be printed from the original plate, and is a very high quality artwork in the Louis XIV style.
It features a lovely landscape with ancient trees by a river, set in an ornate oval cameo, and surrounded by a lavish decor of putti, foliage and griffins.
The work is magnificent. Beautifully rendered, very decorative like all Baroque is, but also fresh and sensitive.
This exquisite piece will bring elegance to any decor.
