An outstanding French lace runner from the Edwardian times, all hand made including the lovely ornate border. Circa 1900.
The piece is not small (28") and has been thoroughly cleaned by hand, so is very white.
No repairs necessary.
The center is an intricate Battenburg work, done with a very thin batiste ribbon, forming a streamlined floral motif.
The border, which is fairly large in this piece is also all hand done, and though it looks like waves of ribbons, it is not made with batiste like the center, but with strips that may be added to the lace, or more likely part of the lace work itself, like in Venice or Chantilly lace.
This needlework treasure will be perfect on wood furniture, dark or light, and will literally brighten any room.
Length: 28". Width: 14".
