Antique French Print Engraving 19th C Century LISTED Artist EXQUISITE Woman s Portrait!

The making of this exquisite young woman's portrait, circa 1860 has gathered the best artists of the time.

Done after a painting by Eustache Le Sueur, or Lesueur (a listed artist) it was engraved by Demannez under the direction of the famous Italian engraver Calamatta.

Both engravers are also listed artists in their own right.

Lesueur was working for no less than the King and Queen of France in his time, so, this is just the creme de la creme of 19th Century Art!

The engraving still has its original tissue (which nearly never happens). Sign the artwork is in the same condition as when it was printed, and was never framed. We rolled it on the side for the photograph.

As the owner, you are old course welcome to remove this antique protection!

The portrait is done with extreme finesse as was the fashion then (please see my 2 Deveria's portraits in the exact same style). While later in the Century, it would become much more shaded.

The young woman has a crown of flowers, but she certainly wears it like an ancient Queen wearing a real crown.

She is a "Muse", as the title says, and looking at her expression of delight, obviously enthralled by the Art she represents!

The piece has stunning beauty, simplicity and total elegance, and will bring prestige to any decor.

CONDITION: In very good condition. Paper is intact.
