This is the most exquisite French coin purse from the Napoleon III era, Early 1850s.
The piece is in REMARKABLE condition for its age.
The purse is made of a red velvet, with a stunning floral embroidery on both sides, very three dimensional, and made with a thick gilt brass thread, similar to religious needlework.
The frame is brass too, and it has the cutest nails and also a delightful scalloped motif.
some very rare features: the inside is absolutely fresh. The purse closes VERY well.
This rare and precious collectible will enchant you by its elegance and finesse. Its proportions are pure refinement. it is even more moving in real!
As you imagine the petite lady of the time, opening it with her long cream glove to pick up a gold coin there, with Napoleon III's face.
MEASUREMENTS: Length: 3 1/2". Width: 2 1/4". (9 cm) by ( 6 cm)
CONDITION: Wear to the velvet of course, and darkening of the brass thread, but condition could not be better for its 150 years and materials.
(you may want to also check my Napoleon III embroidered velvet frame. Also an amazing piece in the same style)
Will be shipped "Registered" from Paris including online tracking (US, Canada, Europe) insurance and signature at delivery.
