A rare French Empire/1820 charcoal drawing in the Neo Classical style, representing a young woman with a perfect Greek profile and an elaborate braided hairdo.
The drawing, done by a superior artist, definitely transcends Academic classicism, to achieve real beauty.
The young woman looks kind of bewildered, which was the fashion then, as it would open the eyes and reveal the beauty of the mouth.
Her blond hair is done in thin plaits and attached with a ribbon on top.
Useless to say her Greek nose is a perfection!
(shadow in the lower half of the piece is from the camera)
A rare, very early 19th Century treasure, which will bring antique prestige to any decor!
