This antique French print is so cool!
It comes from an aristocratic magazine: the "Moniteur de la Mode" circa 1830 and is hand watercolored.
It shows 2 super elegant men, a military man and a city dweller, one surprised, the other full of pity, looking at a guy in the most unbelievable outfit, (complete with red tights, bloomers and a sailor's hat) who obviously tried hard to be as fashionable as them, but failed miserably.
The scene is hilarious! And though it is an early 19th Century publication, is so realistic, it is as funny today, as it was then.
You will love the men's curly hairdos, the detailed facial expressions, and the fact that the 2 elegant men are walking together just like a married couple!
A totally unique scene, full of charm and humor.
MEASUREMENTS: Length: 10 1/2" Width: 7 1/2".
CONDITION: Very good, with some brownish areas due to age. They do not distract from the scene. Edges are cut somewhat unevenly, but this is not really noticeable. The print was applied on a thicker paper.
Will be shipped "Registered" from Paris including insurance and signature at delivery.
