An antique silver box with paper cut work under glass. The bottom of the box is engraved Mother of Pearl. The small round box is equally interesting whether viewing the top or bottom. The top bears cut work that is in the fashion of German scherenschnitte. The floral cut work is done in tan shade and mounted on a dark brown background.
Acquired in England, Circa 1850. The box may be earlier, late Georgian and is unmarked. It was tested for silver.
Measurements; 1 ½" in diameter and ¾" high, approx. 30 grams
Condition; pictures show small dings around top edge and surface scratches in accordance with age and use.
