Antique English Sterling Silver Jewelry Box in Form of Grand Piano

A stunning English sterling silver jewelry box made by the well-known firm of William Comyns. A most unique piece, the jewelry box is in the shape of a grand piano decorated with the famous "Reynolds Angels" on the top and around the sides. William Comyns is an important silver firm founded in London in the year 1859. I have sold several Comyns jewelry boxes over the past year; each unique and unforgettable in design as this box.

The lid of the "piano" lifts to reveal a compartment for jewelry. The keyboard cover lifts to reveal a compartment for rings. Both are lined with the original velvet. A special box for gift giving.

Hallmarked for English sterling silver as denoted by the Lion Passant mark. Also marked with the Leopard's mark for the assay town of London, the date mark "f" for 1901, and WC for William Comyns.

Measurements; 7 " X 4 ½" X 3 ½" high

Condition report, the velvet lining shows some wear consistent with age and use, surface scratches in accordance with age and use, back leg angles in slightly, overall very good condition
