An antique letter writing seal in the form of a horse's lower leg,foot, and shoe. Incredible detail and fine materials combine to form an outstanding seal. Highly polished bone is carefully carved in the form the lower part of a horse's leg including the fetlock, coronet band, and shoe. Five silver colored metal studs imitate the nails of a shoe. A brass handle and seal: the latter bears the initials "JC".

Measurements; 2 1/2" to the bend, then an additional 2", seal itself measures; 3/4" X 1/2"
Condition report; very good, one small nick out of the bone on the edge of the shoe, dings in the brass.
