An antique tortoise shell card case with silver string inlay and a silver shield shaped cartouche. The mottled shell in warm colors with deep shades of mahogany is highlighted with silver inlay in a rectangular design. The silver cartouche adds just that "extra touch" to the front of the case and is blank...perfect for your own monogram. A collection of shell card cases in various shapes and designs displayed on a shelf or table adds a layer of warmth and personality to your home.
Late Victorian English; Circa 1850
A lovely piece for your collection or for your use; the case is in very good shape with the push latch and hinges in good working order. The case will hold business cards measuring 3 1/8" X 2"; however, it is just a bit too small inside for credit cards. I do have another card case that I will be listing that will hold credit cards.
Measurements; 3 ¾" X 2 5/8"; inside depth aprox. ¼" (will hold 10 business cards or equal depth of folded paper currency.
Condition; only items to note small chip in shell and bend in silver string inlay on back of case.
