Antique Gilt Chatelaine with Sterling Silver/ Heart Vinaigrette & Magnifying Glass

An antique gilt metal chatelaine with four chains and accessories including a heart shaped sterling silver gilt vinaigrette/accessory by Gorham. The chatelaine contains several interesting and unusual accessories. In addition to the heart shaped vinaigrette, a gilt and mother of pearl magnifying glass decorated with green stones, an oval ornate thimble holder, a gilt mesh change purse, and a gilt clip set with amethyst colored stones. The silver/gilt heart shaped vinaigrette has an ornate pierced grill that opens to reveal another pierced grill. The reverse side is monogrammed in script with the letters that appear to be SWC.

The chatelaine may have been assembled over a period of time; however, all implements have similar hooks and all four gilt chains are identical in style. The Gorham piece is fully hallmarked for sterling silver including the Gorham right facing lion, anchor, and Gothic G that dates the piece to the late 1800's.

Acquired in England, the chatelaine most likely was assembled over time; Circa 1895
