This marvelous, antique Victorian art glass covered butter dish was made by the Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co., circa 1884. This is a fabulously detailed Art glass pattern that Consolidated called 'Guttate'. This very Victorian pattern features magnificent bulging swirls of glass with rows of graduated, round beads between. This antique butter dish is a fiery white, opaque opal glass (milk glass) with gold trim. Measures 8 inches across the bottom plate X 5 1/4 inches high to the top of the finial. In Very Good Condition for its' age - no chips or cracks - just minor 'roughness/fleabites' around the rim opening of the lid/cover, and wear to the gold trim on both pieces, though at least 50% or more, of the gold remains! There are also some tiny bits of ash embedded in the glass that can be seen on the inside of the lid only - adding much character and charm, and is quite normal for the Victorian era glassmaking process, and further proof of its' age! What a wonderful Victorian Art glass butter dish, and Lovely example of the Consolidated Guttate pattern! Priced to reflect the minor flaws.
