Delicate Pre-Ban Ivory Tree of Life Necklace

In ivory like with cameos the levels in the carving are of prime significance when determining value. Here is a tree carved in a surround of leaves and roses.How did they do that? It has the most wonderful hand done bale and is on a 14" beaded necklace with a barrel clasp.

The pendant is 1 1/8" long and weighs 9.2 grams. This necklace was bought in Taiwan years ago. It belongs to a 94 year old musician who traveled with her work.

It is so delicate and fine and beautiful.
