McClelland Barclay Sapphire Colored Emerald Cut Necklace

McClelland Barclay jewelry made with sapphire colored emerald cut gemstones as well as white baguettes and pave set white rhinestones. The necklace is amazing having two strands of a gold toned metal snake chain leading down to two sections of pave set white rhinestones as well as a sapphire colored emerald cut gemstone and two white baguette cut gemstones in rhodium plated metal. Then four strands of snake chains connect at each side to the centerpiece which is made up of a gold toned metal foundation with a screwed on piece of rhodium plated metal that has beautiful gemstone accents. This centerpiece design consists of a crescent shaped setting holding lovely pave set white rhinestones. The centerpiece also has a row of 12 prong set white baguettes as well as 12 prong set sapphire colored emerald cut gemstones with two baguettes and a number of bezel set white rhinestones set around the emerald cuts. There is also a center bezel set large white brilliant cut gemstone that looks perfect. The back of the centerpiece is signed "McClelland Barclay" and this necklace is fastened with a fold over style clasp that holds great. This item measures 16 1/2" long with the centerpiece being 2" long by 2" wide and the necklace is in excellent condition with no missing or darkened gemstones whatsoever. This piece of jewelry is extremely rare as Barclay only made jewelry between 1936-1941. Unfortunately Barclay's life was cut short when during WWII a landing he was a passenger on was destroyed by an enemy torpedo on July 18th, 1943. His highly stylized Art Deco designs are especially brought to life in pieces like this fabulous sapphire colored emerald cut gemstone necklace.
