Early 1900s Brass & Glass Red Cabochon Lavaliere Necklace

The entire length of the chain alone is 30" and the necklace is 18 1/4 doubled, as would be worn. The pendant measures 3 1/2" long. the oval cab is deep red foiled art glass. There is some missing foil to the back which creates a mottled effect when viewing the stone from the front. There is also a red glass bicone bead. The metal is stamped with a wonderful filigree design.

Our best estimate, since the piece is unmarked, is a date of circa 1920-1930 and probably German or Czech in origin. It is a lovely piece and can carry off casual wear as well as evening dress with aplomb.
