This elegant antique sterling covered serving piece was made by the English silversmith John Edwards III in 1795. The lid is decorated with a floral/geometric design while the bottom is unadorned. The lovely ornate handle is removable. The length of the bowl is 12 inches while the width is 8.5 inches. The height is 3 inches to the top of the bowl itself and 4.5 inches to the top of the handle. There are full hallmarks for the year 1795. Both top and bottom are marked. John Edwards III came from a long line of English silversmiths. This serving piece is in extremely fine condition and is very heavy, weighing in at 46 regular ounces. It has been in a private collection for many years. It is a handsome addition to a table or buffet.
