Gorgeous, Victorian, hand painted art glass, lidded holder that includes a small decanter, and six small glasses inside. The decanter and glasses are cobalt blue. Because the glasses are hand blown, they are not the exact same size, so sit a little differently (higher or lower) in the holes that are cut out to hold them. Each is about 2 inches tall. The decanter has its original, glass stopper, and is 5&3/4 inches tall. All cobalt blue pieces are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. These seven pieces are beautifully encased in a heavy, glass base with matching lid. There is a hinge, but it's BROKEN. It doesn't surprise me, as the glass lid is so heavy. There is a clear glaze over the burnt orange and white colors. Also under the glaze are three different scenes. On top of the clear glaze, around each scene, is a hand painted, floral frame design. The overall height, with the lid in place, is 11 inches. It weighs 3 pounds, before packing. The lid has some wear to the white base paint on the underside. Small spots that can be seen when held up to a light. Not readily noticeable unless you are looking for them. There are some age lines, on the edge, in the clear glaze that cannot be felt, but can be seen. I'm being picky, and including a lot of photos, including close ups of the broken hinge, and line in the glaze on the lid, because this is a fragile piece, that will be fairly expensive to ship safely, so I want to mention everything that can be considered a flaw. There are no marks. Not surprising considering that it dates from the mid 1800s to 1900. The best I can tell from my research is that the holder is Czechoslovakian. The low price takes the flaws, and broken hinge into consideration, so lower offers are not necessary.
