I recently purchased these at auction. I find them charming, and interesting, and wanted them for my shop. They are not, however, for serious doll collectors looking for pristine examples! I'm copying the description from the auction house, as they are far more expert than I am when it comes to dolls, and then will add my own observations... "Pair of shoulder head composition dolls with set glass eyes. Elongated heads repainted and possible repaired. Cloth bodies filled with straw. Composition and wooden limbs.. One dressed in slip only one dressed in antique print dress. 19th Century. Height: 10 inches and 12 inches. Estimate: $100-$300" My observations....I don't think the eyes in the taller doll are glass. They feel like plastic when I tap with my fingernail, but they are inset, and it's hard to tell for sure. The clothing looks all original, and is clean. The dolls have no odor. The smaller, 10 inch doll has legs that end at the ankles. I don't know if she originally had feet! I've included a close up photo. Please feel free to email with any questions you may have, or if you would like additional photos, as I am in NO WAY an expert in the category of dolls.
I currently have several vintage and antique dolls in my shop, and am happy to combine shipping. All pieces purchased at the same time ship for the price of one. To see them all, type the word, "doll" in the search box at the top of this page
