Vintage Signed JULENE Of Honolulu Hawaiian Hula Girl Figurine

Famed Hawaiian potter, and artist, Julene Mechler, passed away in Honolulu in 2005. She will always be remembered both in the Hawaiian Islands, and most of the world, for her wonderfully authentic ceramic depictions of native Hawaiian people, mostly made in the late 1950's through 1960's. She primarily made female figurines, but some males. In recent years her male figures have become very sought after. This is a 6&1/2 inch tall hula girl. She's wearing and applied lei (meaning they were added after the main figure was hand painted, glazed and fired). She is in overall very good to excellent condition. There are 4 tiny digs around the bottom of her "grass skirt". Please see photos, I've included a lot of them. Like all porcelain finished Julene figurines, and many other ceramic figurines from the 1950's, there is minor crazing under the glaze. Hard to see, but there. Signed on the bottom, "Ceramics by Julene, Honolulu".
