Vintage MARX Tin Litho Wind Up Cowboy & Horse
What a great, vintage wind~up toy, in great condition! "Made in the United States of America, New York, N.Y." by Marx Toys. Circa 1930's-40's, before Marx moved it's manufacturing to Japan. I've included a lot of photos, to best describe condition, but basically, I'd rate it a C-8+. The colors are deep, and the finish is shiny. There are a few, surface scratches, primarily to the horse's tail. Most of these you see are missing the lariat, and cowboy's left arm that is holding a gun. Originally, this arm was jointed (why most of them are missing!) and swung freely when the wound. This one came lose, and has been soldered into place. So, while it no longer swings, it displays beautifully. On the back of the cowboy's shirt is an old, yellowed piece of tape. Goof-off would probably safely remove it, but it I've chosen to left it the way I found it. The original, built in key winds easily, and the lasso goes like a champ! Some of these were made with bases. This one was not. The horse stands solidly, on his hind legs and tail, in rearing position. It measures just under 7 inches tall, to the cowboy's hand (the lariat not included in measurement).
