What a great find! Circa 1955-1960, this play set was made by Marx Toys, "Louis Marx & Co. Inc.",in the "United States of America". It includes a tin barn, with the "magic" door" that opens when bumped by the tractor (or whatever vehicle). The base of the barn is 8 inches wide, and 11 inches deep. The barn is 8 inches tall, and has the colorful, highly detailed, lithograph that Marx is known for. I've included a lot of photos, to best describe condition. Basically, the barn has some scratches, mostly on the roof, and front of the "magic door" from being bumped, but the finish is bright and shiny, with crisp details. The key wind tractor is touted as "plastic" on the box, but it is a combination of plastic body and driver, and tin lithograph chassis. The wheels are bright red, plastic. The built in, metal key winds perfectly, and the tractor moves along like a champ. It comes with rubber treads, that fit over the plastic wheels. When I put the treads on, it doesn't move when wound. I'm probably not putting them on right, and don't want to mess with it too much. The tractor measures 5&1/2 inches long, and is in excellent condition, showing minor wear to the tin litho on the bottom. The box is in amazingly good condition, with all flaps, and no corner splits. It does show some wear, and has 3 letters written in pencil, on one end. True collector quality.
I have several tin litho toys in my shop, and am happy to combine shipping. To see them all, type, "tin toy" in the search box at the top of this page.
