Fabulous, vintage stoneware, beater jar that was a promotion/advertising piece for Wesson Oil. These are hard to find with the original beater, and this one is nice. While It has some oxidation, and could use a cleaning, the handle turns the beater blades in perfect unison. It has a wood knob on the top. On the metal is, "Pat. Oct 9, 1923", and a hallmark that is "A J" in a diamond, and, "Made in USA". The stoneware crock, or jar, is cream colored white, with a blue stripe and blue lettering. It measures 5&1/4 inches tall, by 4 inches in diameter. There is some roughness around the top, as you would expect from a true, vintage piece that was actually used. There is a very tight, old, 2&1/2 inch hairline. It does not affect the usability, and is barely visible. If you look closely, you can see it in the the 8th photo, the one taken from the top with the beater off, it's on the top rim on the right hand side. I was tempted to keep this, clean up the beater, and use it for mixing my salad dressings, and scrambling my eggs. It's such a great display piece, as it is, I decided not to clean the metal, and do away with the vintage patina. Many of these beater, or mixing jars were made by Red Wing, as this one appears to be, but it is UNMARKED. It weighs 4 pounds before packing.
