1930's Hand Made Hawaiian Hula Girl Cloth Doll

This is one of the more uncommon cloth hula dolls in that she has defined fingers and toes. Most of the dolls with stitched fingers and toes were made by the Lepers on Molokai, where they were banished, and taken care of by missionaries. The colony was partially supported from the crafts made there, and shipped to the other Islands to be sold to tourists. Since this one has no tag, I cannot be certain, but she is a beauty with her yarn hair, embroidered face, and hand tied grass skirt. She's 13 inches tall, and in excellent condition. Nice and clean...no stains or odor. Check out the vintage tapa looking vintage fabric bra top and shorts. She's also wearing 2 crepe paper leis, one on her wrist, and one on her ankle. She has another around her neck, but it's not in very good condition, as you can see in the photos. A nice addition to your collection of vintage Hawaiiana, or international dolls.
