Antique French Sterling Silver sauce Boat & Stand: 630g
Fine Louis XVI style sauce boat & stand comprised of the .950 sterling the French table wear is renowned for. (US & UK sterling is .925.) The formed stand, strapped filet style, is mirrored in the partially fluted body. The edge of the stand finely detailed with a stiff leaf pattern. The handles are a charming cross ribbon design on laurel branches, with berries, and applied to the body with laurel leaf sprigs. The strapped rim of the boat bears beautifully chased scrolling acanthus leafs. There is a script interlaced monogram on either side of the stand: "BE". All parts bear the .950 sterling guarantee, the Minerve 1st titre, and both body and stand are punched with Leon Lapar's mark. Also on the bottom, Lapar Paris is stamped.
Condition is good. There is some stubborn tarnish, usual signs of use, some faint clouding. No significant, i.e., noteworthy flaws. Dimensions: generous 9.75" long, 6" wide and 4" tall. Weight is 630 grams, 20.25 troy ounces.
