Antique French Rococo Sterling Silver Serving Set: Carving & Salad
Excruciatingly beautiful service set realized by Henri Soufflot, noted Parisian silversmith 1884-1910. The handles are decorated with deep repousse rocaille. They are assymmetric and embellished with finely chased floral and foliate accents. The carving fork boasts a well executed pheasant decoration on the meat stabiliser. The set comes in the original presentation box, lined in a claret colored velvet and silk. There is a faint monogram on these pieces"CM" or "CT"? I can never figure these intertwined script monograms out. This is a very heavy solid set. Since the service ends of the pieces are not sterling, I am unable to provide weighable silver numbers.
Condition is quite good. There some signs of use on the salad spoon, mainly some discoloration, and some minor oxidation marks on the carving knife blade. Please see photos for dimensions and marks.
