Absolutely beautiful set of 12 dessert knives with sterling blades, mother of pearl handles and the best sterling tips/caps and ferrules. Made in the mid-1800's they might as well have been designed by a 20th Century artisan. They are contemporary in style, and like new. The caps are stylized acanthus with another stylized acanthus flowing from the top of the one pointing downwards, with spiraling floral edges and straight edged strapping. The ferrule is a mirror image of the cap, recto verso. The nacre is sublime; very colorful, opalescent, pure and barely a flaw. A hairline of minuscule proportions on one or two of the handles. The sterling blades also in fine condition. Only the wear to the maker's punch and the sterling punch show signs of age; i.e., a bit of wear. This is such an unusual set of knives I had to get them for you! Prices to sell. Here is one of those so rare opportunities when you can have it all: price, quality, utility and style. I know there will be a strong demand to grab these; so I would advise moving quickly with your decision.
Dimensions: 8 1/8" long, 0.75" wide and weight is 38 ounces.
