John-Baptiste Dreyer: Antique Vermeil Silver Sugar Tongs 1849

Beautiful sugar tongs dating from mid-1800s decorated with mixed guilloche machined patterns enclosed within etched borders. The center panel boasts a rose in full blossom. The tongs are in very good condition. They are crafted of .800 silver and coated with 22k gold plate. An elegant addition to a collection or service. Dimensions: The tongs are 6" long, 1" wide and weigh 27 grams.

Marks: The marks include the Minerve 2nd titre and the tete Sanglier; both guarantees for ,800 parts silver. The maker's punch for Jean-Baptiste Dreyer dates the tongs to mid-1800's. And the counter mark: the bigornes.
