French Louis XV Sterling 4 PC Serving Set: Olier & Caron

Nice set of 4 serving pieces produced by highly reputable mastersmith Olier & Caron, Paris circa 1910-1936. The Louis XV pattern is simple, elegant, classic. Rocailles and floral foliate motifs. The service ends are beautifully engraved with a pattern that mirrors that of the handles; the human brain just loves redundancy, haha. Both sides of the service ends are engraved. And these pieces are each entirely made of .950 parts silver. Often with these serving pieces the service ends are brass, with gold plating or nat.The serving pieces are for fish and ice cream, or dessert. The dessert service has gold plated service ends, and utilizes the engraving to execute a mixed metal effect that is superb. There are no monograms on these pieces and condition is very good. Other than very light signs of use, the only notable imperfection is some gilt loss to the ice cream knife; clearly visible in the photos.

Marks: each piece both the .950 sterling silver guarantee, the Minerve 1st titre, in use since 1838 in France. And the maker's punch for Olier & Caron.

Dimensions: The fish set: knife is 130 grams and 12" long, fork, 105 grams, 9.5" long. The dessert set: knife 130 grams, 11.5" long. The spoon: 115 grams, 10.25" long. Total silver weight: 480 grams!
