French Sliding Saint Marguerite Medal Signed JB

Saint Marguerite Was Born In France To A Rather Large Family and At Age Was Called To Serve God. Her Calling Led Her To The Wilderness of Montreal Where She Encountered Many Dangers, Illness and Attacks From Iroquois. She Started A School and Was the First Teacher For The Children in The Area That Was Called Ville Marie. She Was Also Instrumental In Building A Chapel Which Now Houses The Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum. St. Marguerite Had Unshakable Faith In God and Persisted In Her Work To Teach Indian Children. By The Time Of Her Death At Age 69, She Was Known As "Mother of the Colony". She was Beautified In 1950 Canonized in 1982 by Pope John Paul II.

This Lovely Sliding Medallion Is Created In Silver-Tone Medal. One Side Has The Repousse Image Of St. Marguerite With Her Head Scarf Tied At The Neck With Cross. The Bottom Left Corner Is Signed With Intersecting Initials JB. The Edge Has A Fancy Radiating Pattern. The Opposite Side Has Beautiful Repousse Image Of St. Marguerite Holding A Young Girl. The Inscription At The Bottom Reads ND DE BON SECOURS For Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel. Underneath That The Medal Is Marked FRANCE. Inside, One Side Has The Inscription B. Marguerite Bourgeoys and The Opposite Side Has A Well Which Contained A Relic At One Time That Is No Longer Present.

St. Marguerite's Patronage Is Against Poverty, Loss of Parents, Those Rejected by Religious Orders.

This Wonderful Medallion Of A Courageous And Loving Woman Who Died In 1700. The Medallion Shows Wear From Age and Use and Light Scratching, In Very Good Condition. The Medal Measures 7/8" by 3/4". A Lovely Devotional To This Inspiring Saint.
