Dietz produced "Comet" Toy Battery Lantern with Orange & Silver Paint. Introduced in the 1950's then last made in 1969. Marketed by Dietz as the "Official Scout Lantern." It's hard to believe that this lantern is already over 42 Years Old !
Has the Original Correct marked H-2 Globe ; "COMET Reg'd U.S. Pat. Off. * DIETZ Made in Syracuse,NY. USA."
Two-Tone Orange & Silver Paint is nearly in Mint condition, with a few minor chips on the Wire Bail Handle and on the base edge of the lantern. Some pitting seen under the paint, on the bottom of the battery door.
Takes 2 "D" batteries, and supplied with a GE #14 bulb.
Stands 8 1/2 inches from Base to top of Crown, and overall 12 1/4 inches to top of Wire Bail Handle.
Weighs 15.1 Ounces.
Restoration Notice : Battery paper mounting board needs to be replaced. Brass battery Connectors, and wires look good. See the Last Photo.
