Rare Miniature Child's "Whale Oil Bullseye Signal Lantern" with both the Red & Blue Filters !!! Ca. 1870-1880.

This one still has the Rare Surviving Tin Oil Fount Complete with the Single Tube Whale Oil Burner. Rare Surviving "Push-In Whale Oil Burner" has a Single Tin Wick Tube with a side slot to adjust with a Wick Pick to raise or lower the wick. Has the 2 original Wire Bail Handles on the back.

These Miniature Bullseye Signal "Whale Oil Lanterns" were popular with children during the 1870's after the American Civil War "Signal Corps" Lanterns came into fame, which were also originally whale oil lanterns ! Circa 1870's - 1890's.

The Undamaged Bullseye Condensing Lens in the hinged door works as an illuminating flash light, and the Red & Blue Filter Lenses are still Internally Mounted Turret change the Light Emitting Colors by rotating the assembly with the top exhaust vent cap.

See the photo whereas the internal rotating shutter assembly is removed which holds the Color Filters in place

Stands only 4 5/8 inches high, and 2 3/8 inches in base diameter.
