Rare Pair of Matching Glass Decanters !!! Ca. 1870 to 1890.
Awesome Blown & Formed Decanters made from "Cranberry Glass cased over Clear Glass". Then the Outer Copper Wheel Cut Pattern reveals the Clear glass underneath.
Cut Ovals & Oval Darts pointing upwards with a Full Fluted Neck above. Excellent formed top lips.
Bottom pontil marks were fully polished out in a dish shape. See the sheen in the last photo shot without any flash. Each has a faint wear pattern and a small factory engraved identifier number on each bottom "62 & 70".
They have clear polished smooth inside the necks for corks or glass stoppers. There are no concentric rings found inside to prove there ever were any matching Glass stoppers "polished to fit".
They stand 8 3/4 inches High, and 3 3/4 inches across the base diameter. Weights are #70 = 2 Pounds and 2.9 Ounces, and #62 = 2 Pounds and 6.2 Ounces.
Condition : Excellent Thick Museum Quality Glass ! As Perfect as you'll ever find.
Just for accuracy, I could only find the smallest single flea bite on the one decanter's top Lip of #70 and another one on the other one's cranberry glass side of the decanter #62. (both less than 1/8 of an inch)
They will be Double Boxed for safety at 8 Pounds total shipping weight.
