Primitive Wrought Iron Strainer / Skimmer Ladle with a Rat Tail Hook ! Ca. 1870.

Primitive & Heavy Wrought Iron Strainer or Skimmer Ladle with Hand Drilled Holes ! Ca. 1860 to 1880.

Wrought from 1 Piece of Iron, without any Rivets.

See unevenly spaced Hole Drill Pattern in the Last Photo.

Measures Overall 18 1/4 inches Long, with a 5 inch diameter Strainer Cup.

Weighs a Hefty 14 Ounces.

Very Good overall condition without any Cracks, with normal surface oxidation.

Test your Antique Detective Skills : As Heavy as it was constructed, it still shows signs of Wear from a Left Handed person Tapping the Kettle on the Left side, causing a slight Right Curve. Then there is the Gentle Bow in the Handle from excessive lifting stress, or constant Skimming solids from the liquid Contents. Just a Great Farmhouse Kitchen Utensil !
