Mint American Made Mahogany Veneered & Dovetail Shaving Mirror !
The divider between the 2 drawers was Mortised into the top and bottom seat board for exact spacing, and to prevent warping of the top and bottom. Also seen in the underside photo.
Secondary wood is pine. Internal and external exposed oxidation of wood is all correct.
This would have been used while on the top of a dresser for a man to used to shave or dressing & grooming .
The case is completely dovetailed, seen in the photo of the underside seat board, and then the Best Crotch Walnut was used to veneer the case,the fronts of the 2 Drawers, and the mirror frame.
The 2 Drawers fronts are thick Walnut Veneer and are dovetailed front and back, with unusual walnut sides, and the bottom pine board is also chamfered to fit the slotted sides of the drawers . Glue strips were later added to the bottom of the bottom boards, but was not necessary.
The mirror frame was lap jointed and wood pegged in the 4 corners for strength , the veneered in the front to match the case.
It's no wonder this Dresser Mirror survived.
Mint original condition.
Age of glass mirror is unknown, but has normal minor streaking in the silver.The back board is also oxidized dark from age,and secured with old cut nails.
Overall measures 17 3/8 inches from bottom to top of Mirror support Acorn Finials. Base measures 14 3/4 wide by 8 inches deep by 4 1/4 inches from the base ball feet to the top of the case.
The mirror frame alone measures 11 1/4 inches wide by 11 inches high.
Original threaded insert is mortised into the mirror frame for the Mirror's Butterfly tightening bolts. See last photo.
