Flow Blue Historical Plate ~ Flowing Oil Well, Bradford, PA Late 1800's era

Made in England by W. Adams & Co, in the late 1800's - early 1900's, at the behest of French, Mitchell Woodbury, Co. of 84 Pearl St., Boston, Mass, an importer of such items, this depicts one of the 500+ oil wells owned at that time by L. Emery, Jr. He was the owner of 500 oil wells, then built the famous Emery Hotel in Bradford, PA and later became a PA State Senator. This is a wonderful reminder of how long PA has been in the fossil fuel industry, from Oil, Coal and now natural gas. If the Border seems familiar, this is the same company that made plates for historic sites in America for decades and imported by many wholesales such as Jonroth, etc. The condition is wonderful. Deep flowing rich blues. Some very slight scratches, but no chips or cracks! 10.25"
