Vintage 14K Enamel Diamond Clover Freshwater Rice Pearl Torsade Necklace

The clasp was made to accommodate 5 strands of pearls and was probably originally strung with cultured saltwater pearls. Currently it holds 4 double strands (a total of eight) of gorgeous cultured freshwater pearls. (These freshwater pearls are the highly coveted, heavy nacre pearls of the 1970s and 1980s.) There was another double strand of freshwater pearls at some point, but it is now missing. Not that it matters much as the missing strand is noticeable only under the closest scrutiny. The pearls can be worn draped or twisted with the clasp in virtually any position. I cannot even begin to tell you how gorgeous it is!

The necklace is approximately 17.5 inches long and the width of the 8 strands is roughly 1-1/8 inches. The pearls are white, well-matched in their irregularity and quite lustrous. They average about 5 mm long (some are longer, some are shorter) and 3.5 mm wide. The insert of the clasp is marked 14K-L. It pushes in behind the clover and snaps securely. There is a fold-over lock for additional security.

Aside from the missing strand of pearls, the condition is excellent. The clasp is perfect and stunning and the necklace is a joy to behold!
