MEISSEN Hand Painted Scenic Porcelain 3 Piece Inkstand

Superbly hand decorated and richly colored, this set has been embellished with an allover elaborate gilt edge ornamentation in the classical manner of the 1800's. Seven different and exquisitely hand painted gilt edged panels are shown in wonderful polychrome colors of pink , blue, rust, and yellow which was so very typical of the famous Watteau paintings that depicted courting couples in period dress in garden landscapes.

The Condition of this set is excellent, no noticeable chips or cracks, the painted portions remain brilliant and fresh. There is of course some age appropriate very minor wear to some gilt edges which one would expect of a amazing set of this vintage.

A set of superb quality all original.... all intact. This set has been lovingly cherished and has survived the passage of time brilliantly.

Sander; 3 3/4 " diameter 3" height

Marks: Each piece is marked with crossed swords in blue and a single scratched hash mark. The tray has the incised number "36" and another mark which is difficult to read.
