Classically designed in a high relief mounting of gilt brass marcasite this is a SUPERB dramatically detailed Jet Cameo Broach from the !9th century.

Extraordinary large 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" this Classical cabochon shaped broach features a central Red Coral Cameo and 8 smaller Red Coral stones... all in excellent condition set into an exquisitely designed high relief mounting of gilt brass marcasite. The central oval shaped cameo features a very delicate Coral bust of a young woman framed with 8 lozenge shaped Coral stones. All of the highly polished stones are in mint condition and exhibit no cracks or chips.

The broach has suffered some age related wear...a tight hairline crack runs diagonally at the top left to the right. Expertly designed and made this crack has not caused undue harm and it is remarkable antique condition.

Condition: Excellent appropriate condition. Set with original tight closing C clasp.
